Where do you ship to?

We currently ship to Australia, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, the UK and USA. And anywhere else in the world actually. Hurrah.

Is the site secure?

Any information you give us will be protected and not disclosed to third parties unless for the purpose of processing your order. Any Third Thumb server will secure your personal information with up-to-date firewall and encryption techniques during the ordering process. For more information on privacy, please see our privacy page. It's not that private.

To protect customers to the fullest, Third Thumb does not store your credit card information at any time.

Do you accept PayPal as a form of payment?

Yes we do. That was easy, wasn't it.

Was my order placed if I wasn't sent a confirmation email?

Hmmm. Tricky. If you completed all the steps of the checkout process and submitted an order but didn't receive an email confirmation, your order was probably placed. Please don't place your order again as it may result in a duplicate shipment.

You can always check your spam folder for the confirmation email. If you can't find it there, sign into your Account, go to the "My Orders" tab on your Account page and the order should be in your order history.

If you can't locate your order with any of these options, you placed your order as a guest, you're starting to think you may have dreamt the whole thing or would like us to complete an order search for you, feel free to email us at sales@thirdthumb.co.nz

To avoid any emails marked as spam, be sure to add Third Thumb to your email safe list in future. Spam. Honestly.

What currency is used on the site?

All prices are in New Zealand dollars. From New Zealand. Not Australia.

Is it true that monkeys are paraphyletic?

Yes indeed.

What does paraphyletic mean, exactly?

It means, young Padowan, that they are not part of one single coherent group. Some monkeys are more like apes than they are other monkeys. Whoever thought a T-shirt website could be this informative?

Why is there a transaction on my card when my card was declined?

Your card is not charged when it's declined, though it may appear so. When a card is declined, the funds intended for the order are temporarily held by your bank. Since the order was never processed, the money will not be taken from your account. The held funds will automatically disappear after a certain amount of time, usually within a few days, depending on your bank. Some banks are nicer than others, but there's not really much in it.

Is my credit card information secure?

Darn right it is. We don’t stand for any monkeying around because we don’t store any credit card information. All transactions proceed securely either through Paypal or Flo2Cash, so you’ve no worries there.

How does the currency conversion work for international orders?

All prices on the site are in New Zealand dollars. From New Zealand. When your order is placed, the order total is also in New Zealand dollars. When it's charged to your card, your card company will convert the total to your country's currency at the currency rate when it's processed. If you need to be refunded, the refund will be processed at the current currency rate. This may differ from the rate when your card was charged. Your card company may charge additional fees for conversion. Please contact them for more details.

How do I subscribe or unsubscribe from the newsletter?

First of all, you can click right here to join the newsletter.

The newsletter gives you insightful information into such things as new releases, news, other new things, and sometimes old things too, like ragtime or Vaudeville theatre. Sound like fun! Then try the newsletter out by clicking here (in case you missed it the first time).

If you don't like it, you can always unsubscribe by clicking the "Unsubscribe" button at the bottom of each newsletter. Or by logging into your account, going to your Account Information page, clicking on Edit Newsletter and unticking "General Subscription".

Why was my card declined?

Your card could be declined for several reasons. Make sure the card number, expiration date and security code are entered correctly. Also be sure the card you're using is one we accept.

We accept:
Visa, Mastercard and American Express only.

Oh, and make sure you're not skint either. Sorry – check to see there are sufficient funds on the card and that the billing address matches the card being used.

Can I place an order via email?

Sorry. Orders less than 10 T-shirts can only be placed online. Rest assured that our online checkout process is secure and no credit card information is stored. However, if you're a retailer and you'd like to order a monkey load of T-shirts, please email us at sales@thirdthumb.co.nz

How can I buy more than 10 t-shirts at the time?

If you would like to place an order with more than 10 items (maybe you're a retailer, or just a big fan of our T-shirts) you'll need to email us at sales@thirdthumb.co.nz, or go to the Contact page and make a request. Please be sure to include all the juicy details in your message including your email address and/or phone number.

Do you need an account to place an order?

Not at all. You can place an order without being a member. Of course you can. Mind you, if you do sign up to be a member (and it is free after all) you can create a profile, store your order history and receive all the latest info about Third Thumb – like when we have sales. Which has to be good news. Doesn't it?

Who invented monkeys?

Some believe that Wu Cheng'en was the monkey creator, whilst others say that monkeys were the result of an unfortunate coupling between an apple and a snake. Mark Twain once said "I believe that our heavenly father invented the monkey because he was disappointed in man." But then Mark Twain lied about his own name, so who knows.

What happens if I've forgotten my username/password?

First of all, you'll probably swear a bit. Then realise by reading this that you can request from us by clicking on the "Forgot the Password?" on the sign-in panel.

Submit the email address associated with your account and we'll send you an email with your username and a new password. Once you receive the email, login and go to your account page. Then scroll to the bottom of the page where it says "Change your password". Enter your current password and the password you'd like to have. And be sure to reset the password to something you'll remember this time, you silly monkey.

Why haven't I received my order or shipping confirmation email?

First up, if you didn't receive a shipping confirmation, don't place your order again. There are enough repeats on TV without adding to them unnecessarily. Check your order status, or email us at sales@thirdthumb.co.nz to see if we can find your order info. Be sure to provide the full name on your order, order number and your email address. It just makes things easier.

How much will shipping cost me?

Costs vary depending on your shipping location, the weight of the items in your order and the shipping method chosen. To determine the cost of shipping, simply add the item you wish to order to your cart and proceed to the shipping method. In this step you'll see how much it will cost you without having to place your order first. Phew.

Customs fees and additional fees may apply for international shipments, as governments often get pissed when you buy stuff from abroad. It means they can't tax you in the usual way. Please contact your local customs office for more information. Maybe don't mention that last bit though.

How long will my order take to arrive?

If you received a shipping confirmation email, it means that the monkeys have done their stuff and your order has shipped from our warehouse. The estimated delivery times for shipping as follows:

Please note that the time frames listed above are only an estimate and they apply from the date your order was shipped from our warehouse. Delays may occur at the customs office, where they sometimes like to monkey around with things, but we're afraid that's out of our control. 

Can you tell me about your T-shirts sizes?

What are the washing instructions?

For your T-shirt:
Machine wash cold. Wash dark colours separately. Use non-chlorine bleach only if needed. Tumble dry on low. Do not iron the print. Do not dry clean.

For you:
Don't forget behind your ears.

How many monkeys does it take to iron a shirt?

Only one, but no matter how nicely you ask they still won't do it. Apparently it's below them. You just can't get the staff these days, huh.

Where are your T-shirts made?

Most New Zealand tees are made underground by hobbits. Ours, however, are designed in the UK and only printed in NZ. But not by hobbits. Sorry about that.

What is your return policy?

We want you to love what you order and cherish it until the end of days. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, please return the item(s) for an exchange, or refund. All returns must be made within 45 days of placing your order. We don't accept returns or exchanges after the 45-day period.

Indicate what you're returning and why. Please let us know if you would like to return your item(s) for an exchange or refund. In order to process your return, please include your name, email address and order number along with the item(s) you're returning. You'll be responsible for the shipping charges associated with sending the return back to us.

If you're asking for an exchange, we'll send your replacement item(s) at no charge.

If you're asking for a refund, you'll only be reimbursed for the item(s) returned. The original shipping cost is non-refundable.

All returned items must be in the original condition in which you received them. We do NOT accept washed items. If a washed item is returned, the return will be refused and sent back to you.

If you have any other questions about returns, please feel free to email us. Please excuse us if there's a delay in replying. After the length of that FAQ, we'll be having a good sit down, and maybe a nice cup of milky tea.

What if I request an out-of-stock item in an exchange?

Difficult bugger, eh? If the item you request is out of stock when the exchange is processed, you have two options. You can either have the money refunded, or select a second choice. Please make sure you tick the appropriate box on the Return Form.

How many kinds of monkeys are there?

Officially there are 264 different species of monkey. Not counting Andy's ex-flat mate, Dave.

Do I have to pay to send back a wrong or defective item?

If you received a defective or wrong item, as well as being extremely sorry we'll reimburse you for the return shipping. Please include the shipping receipt and send it back to us. With the receipt included, we'll reimburse you for the cost of shipping the item back to us via regular mail. Unfortunately, we will not reimburse for express shipping, so please don't spend the extra.

The original shipping cost too is non-refundable.

How do I know if my return has been processed?

Returns can take 1-2 weeks to be processed once we receive them. Be sure also to factor in the shipping time for your return to be delivered to us. When your return is processed, we'll send you a notification email. If you believe your return should have been processed, but never received a notification, check your spam folder to make sure the email didn't get marked as spam. The very thought.

Can I exchange my online purchase at your retail store?

Not really. However, if you're in the area we can process your return at our warehouse if you don't want to ship it. Our warehouse is located in Auckland CBD, New Zealand. Please email us at sales@thridthumb.co.nz and we'll arrange a suitable time. We might even bake a banana cake. Thet's lovely.

Are monkeys real or are they just hairy people?

Don't be silly. Of course they're real. Haven't you seen The Jungle Book?
